Transformation

In a creative changing of gear, composer and vocalist Juwon Ogungbe unveils Transformation—an intimate five-track EP that blurs the lines between art song and music theatre. Moving away from digitised production toward the immediacy of live studio performance, Ogungbe delivers bold, haunting vocals with theatrical flair—evoking the soul of Memphis Slim, the drama of Milva, and the emotional reach of the griot tradition, while forging a path all his own. Each song is a personal invocation: stories of grief, creativity, low self-worth alchemised into high art, and ancestral messages released into water. Transformation is a soundtrack for the inner world—sweeping, vulnerable, and defiantly human.

At its core, Transformation is both a personal ritual and a universal offering—a meditation on loss, reinvention, and the power of voice to heal and transgress boundaries. Composed and performed entirely by Ogungbe, the EP is steeped in the sonic textures of live instrumentation and rich vocal layering, recorded in real time at North Brighton Studios. These songs do not seek perfection; they breathe, they tremble, they stand firm. Whether invoking the spirits of the departed or reclaiming self-worth through sound, each track invites listeners to pause, reflect, and emerge renewed.

‘Butterfly, float with wounds all healed. Brook, wash away these messages, sealed.’
