Timing is often beyond anyone’s reach. In small scale matters it might seem different, but in the wider scheme of things, there is only so much one can do.
It is possible that we are all marionettes, dependent on the whims of an all powerful puppeteer. Chance occurrences also force our hands.
Desire might keep us going for decades. We all know when the moment has passed, further down the line.
When this happens, the inclination to feel thwarted or robbed becomes irrelevant.
There is always something else to look forward to.
