In practical terms, most responsible people know it’s a waste of time and energy, trying to stretch matters beyond the contours of credibility.
And yet, some of us can’t be bothered to read the room.
Reliability and trust are easily frittered away. Future generations will need to negotiate the ins and outs of a reset.
In the meantime, we can all learn lessons from the current state of play.
