The Afrocentric Creatives Series

Introduction

King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba is a new music theatre piece that I created in 2019.

It was first performed at Theatre Peckham in London on 26 October 2019 during Black History Month UK. It was performed again in the summer of 2021 in Bath as part of the Festival in the City.

Below is a series of conversations from the 2019 production between myself, in my capacity as composer and scriptwriter, and the cast of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. The cast included singers Helen Karikari, Chloe Sami, Tasos Michalis, Keisha Nurse, Caroline Modiba and Grace Nyandoro; and some of the students who took part in the performance at Theatre Peckham – Isha Phillip, Noellie, Zahira Bloch and Kaliyah Phillip.

These interviews were first posted on the Afrocentric Creatives website.
