Validation is usually presented to young minds as a reward for compliant behaviour.
Social groups, collectives and communities usually need to have ground rules in order to keep things running on an even keel.
For human potential to be optimised, people should be made aware of the boundaries that lie in between acting for the greater good and having outlets for self expression.
The point of balance between these needs could be described as common sense.
Ability to absorb facts and figures and even to display exemplary compliant behaviour are not essentially the same as being sensible or wise.
