Folks who have lived under subjugation from interlopers often go through long periods of working through their traumas, by making up for lost time in emulating their oppressors.
Overindulgence in eating, or being triggered over issues related to food can also be linked to a fear that the food will not always be available.
How does a person move on from this way of being?
