Visualising the life that one wants in the future, it is natural to expect that close friends and associates will be around to share experiences as one travels on the journey. Sadly, destiny doesn’t always work out the way we expect, so we find ourselves having to reconfigure our social lives as time passes by.

Being grateful for paths that crossed at specific points in time is probably the most sensible way to function. Values absorbed and lessons learnt from those encounters are stored away in our memory banks. A practical nature usually finds appropriate ways of applying knowledge as new issues arise.

Even so, it is only natural to feel pangs of loss sometimes. What would it have felt like to share current moments with those we used to know and were so fond of?

Cherishing closeness and affinity through maintaining presence of mind is something that should be encouraged frequently and widely.

Developing the stamina needed to sustain such a quality of engagement is not as easy as it might seem to be.
