Monserrat Caballe only had to do what she was known for. Circulation in new networks brought waves of inspiration into being. As a result, an unlikely person was given a motive for doing something different.

Steps were taken to build a lifestyle that would lead towards vocal transformation. Ups and downs were encountered on the way. Uninformed colleagues reacted to aspects of the creative process in less than favourable terms.

Ms Caballe was in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. Anyone inspired by her was faced with the task of finding alignment in a similar way.

Decades later, the path that was paved through hearing Ms Caballe has been through many twists and turns. Lessons learnt from ‘The African Company’ who nurtured Ira Aldridge have been absorbed.

If purity begins with a person and a vision, then alignment could be closer than one might imagine.
