Yes, I know about cultures, traditions, customs and cleavages that people want to hold on to. It’s perfectly fine for everyone to adapt to changing times in ways that suit them and at their own pace.
I’m also aware of emerging group dynamics, based in the present moment. Those of us who live in global hub cities can’t avoid being swept along in the momentum. It can be felt on public transport, in healthcare facilities, schools and other similar settings.
Folks of a certain age might yearn for ways of life that they grew up in. It’s only natural that they might do so, since comfort zones are supposed to feel cosy.
Some would like to identify with fogeyish tendencies. They try to derail the locomotive of change through setting up distractive sideshows. Attention is the oxygen they thrive on.
When a person accepts the time and place he or she is living in, it is likely that his or her life will be more productive than if he or she tries to stem the flow.
