Listening to the lizard brain sets off a flood of unhelpful thoughts and feelings, most of the time.
The mind conjures up undesirable scenarios. Focus is diverted from the present, as one speculates about ways and means of facing up to pain.
Nine times out of ten, such fears are unfounded. In real time, awkward situations can be dealt with, head on.
After the event, one wonders what the fuss was about, but awareness of this doesn’t make moments of concern or doubt any easier to live through.
And through it all, life goes on.
