It’s quaint to hear old time recordings that carry the ‘potency of cheap music’ featuring instruments with dodgy tuning.
Regardless of the flaws, those sounds symbolise a lot about where one has been.
Moving forward however, one has the option of choosing to identify or not (depending on where one is at).
And so, a life can be a work in progress, moving towards an optimal form of engagement with other lives and cultures.
One can look back and shake one’s head ruefully about tastes and choices of the past. The present and future are still around to play for.
