A song long forgotten informs me of a presence. Memories are triggered of places I’ve been and folks I’ve known. I felt safe way back then.
Influences are felt in more ways than many of us care to imagine. Those who were present most of the time when our minds were mainly located in a theta state functioned as beacons for us to model our thoughts, feelings and actions from.
Years later, people see each other and make assumptions. Sometimes we are swayed into thinking we have missed things about ourselves, because of the feelings we get from others who don’t really know us.
Then the presence visits. Probably to remind us that there is truth in what we remember. Could it be a means of bolstering confidence when gaslighting intrudes on conscious awareness?
I want to pay tribute to those who helped me in feeling safe.
