Some emotions are passed on from generation to generation. Others learn perspectives, based on prompts and instructions they’ve been given by caregivers.

With the passing of time, these folks are reminded of the conditioning they’ve received, then they witness events that give them other feelings.

In situations where the conditioned narrative is conflated with emotions felt from witnessing wrongdoing that doesn’t dovetail easily into the packaged story they feel comfortable with, these same people struggle to find coherence in their assessments of the scenarios.

Observers might feel perplexed by the actions or expressed thoughts and feelings of those facing such a conundrum.

Empathy comes in handy at such moments.
